Up to 90% of the energy used to run a washing machine comes from heating the water, so flip it to cold.

It can be hard at times if you divide your washing up to always have a full load but the best way to save yourself both money and energy is to pop your machine on when it’s full.
I know this can be a struggle with the current weather we have had or living in an apartment ( if there is a will, there is a way). Skip using the dryer and make the most of the outdoor. Bonus is your clothes will last longer as they aren’t being tossed around in a dryer!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you do need to use a dryer make sure you run it as efficient as possible, therefore be sure to clean out the lint filter after every use if possible dry half outside if the weather is in-between. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Make the eco-switch and opt for natural laundry detergent in place of those packed with bleach and other harsh chemicals. In our last and lastest issue we cover a few top laundry essentials. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Now don’t go throwing your washer away, if it works give /sell it to someone who can use it before purchasing you new more sustainable washer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
