Something that seems so insignificant on the scheme of 'saving the planet' can actually help! There are approximately 2.3 Billion email users around the world and the average size of one single email is 75kb, which means all these emails need to be stored somewhere and that somewhere is huge data centres around the world. These centres rely on substantial use of electricity every day. Although times are changing, electricity is still heavily generated by fossil fuels. Burning fossil fuels emits a number of air pollutants that are harmful to both the environment and public health.⁣⁣

So to put this all in perspective, if everyone decided to clean their spam/junk/unwanted emails, this would prevent millions of data that would need to be stored; resulting in a massive reduction of CO2 being emitted into our environment.⁣⁣

It is the small things which are implemented daily that can make enormous changes in the future world we will live in. So please don't forget to clean your unwanted emails regularly. ⁣⁣
