Meet the Creator behind Kruz Creations Photography
We had the pleasure of teaming up with the bubbly Megan (Founder of Kruz Creations Photography) and capturing an amazing collection of our latest Magazine and product features. Meg is a beautiful photographer and we have loved working with her and think you will too!
Introduce yourself
I am Megan, but most call me Meg! I am a work driven, self made / taught / experimental creative with an eye for creating beauty in all different ways! I have an American Bulldog and Staffy who are my absolute world and have had my soul mate, my best friend and partner by my side for the past 10 years who has been my go-to for absolutely everything.
Who is Kruz Creations Photography and how did it come to be?
It definitely came to be from my love and aspiration of always wanting to be involved in creative aspects of a team and creative planning. I used to see and watch my team members put together marketing material, branding, photography, creative content and I was so engulfed in how people can put together such beauty through their creative eye and creative juices. I wanted to get in on this!! But how? Just do it! My vision is for my own ideas to be built on my own concepts and creating something beautiful from something so simple and keeping that vibe and feel going. My mission is simple. Keep. Growing! And if it works, don’t change it! Relax, don’t think too hard and do what feels right to have your work shine and to keep personality glowing through my ideas of imagery and photography.
Why Photography?
When I was 17, I saw a lady photographing a wedding and I was like wow, she is so cool! I wonder if I could do that? Years went by so I started photographing different scenes like beaches, plants and animals and the sound of the lense clicking just got me so excited so I wanted to keep this going! Especially when I look at the results and when I look at a photo it takes me back to that magical place I was when I took the photo. Then also working with a creative marketing team and watching them create so much magic from their talent every day! I wanted to blend creativity and photography into the one! Once I started photographing products and branding I knew this was it! I am so in love, obsessed and infatuated with making magic items shine and getting that super cosy feeling you get when you look at a stunning brand photo.
Where do you learn your techniques from?
I have learnt techniques from hours and hours of study, market research, grasping palettes and creative concepts from other photographers and creative studios, but mostly, putting my own visions into play by spending the time doing trial and errors with compositions, lighting, props and what tools I have on hand to make what I see in my mind come to life.
Which is your favourite lens and why?
Definitely my Nikon 50mm! My partner bought it for me as a present as I was slowly growing and merging more towards photographing brands! This lense allows a super crisp close up and portrait shots of items but also captures the most perfect outdoor lifestyle shots as the lense allows perfect exposure to come in.
Tell us about your sustainable life cycle and how you implement it within your craft?
I tend to re-use my props and items I find and have around my home! I like to bring a clean aesthetic feel to imagery by also using as much organic material as I can!
Nowadays almost everyone has access to devices with which it is possible to take pictures. What do you think is the difference between a professional photographer and any other hobby photographer? Megan: I adore any photography and feel almost just as good portrait shots can be taken on a smartphone! Although, I feel the difference comes down to resolution, lense span and the multiple settings a camera has to use to be able to get that crisper, cleaner and more focused style shot. Professional cameras open up such a wide variety of options, colours and exposure which can most times produce the best results!
What does a day in your life look like?
Lots of coffee, dog pats, food and working! The majority of my day is spent researching, trial and error work, experimenting and straight-up working! And of course lots and lots of sleep!!
Don’t give up. If it feels right, do it. You can only move forward and you’ve only got time on your side to make every step count and make every chapter better.
