Before you sit down to paint, make sure you have all the materials necessary to complete your coffee painting.
What you need:
- Instant coffee or tea
- Paper
- Paintbrush
- Pencil or Pen ( optional)
- tissue paper (for blotting up excess coffee)
- A cup of water
- A Plate
Pick a spot and set up your workspace and lay out your materials. If you’re not painting in an art book, spread out some newspapers under your paper.
When mixing water with coffee (in a cup or on a plate), always start with the powder, then add water with your brush.
Now let’s put paint to paper. It’s important to let your layers dry completely before painting on top of them. If you start to paint on top of a wet layer, the colours will swirl and mix in a way that is very hard to control.

Tip :
If you want to make dark or light hues, vary your amount of water.
